Inaugural Programme of GSDP Course on Plant Tissue Culture Techniques & its Applications 2020-21

National level Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) Certificate Course on Plant Tissue Culture Techniques & its Applications at ENVIS-Centre, CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow.
Under the aegis of Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change (MoEF&CC), Govt. of India CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) is going to organize a certificate course on "Plant Tissue Culture Techniques & its Applications" commencing from 9th February, 2021 to 19th March, 2021. GSDP is an initiative by MoEF&CC to empower Indian youth to gain employment or self employment. MoEF&CC and National Skill Development Council have selected CSIR-NBRI to conducting this course. Inaugural function of the course took place at CSIR-NBRI. On this occasion of this function, Dr. Debasis Chakrabarty, Principal Scientist, NBRI welcomed Chief Guest and all the participants. Dr. P. C Verma, Principal Scientist, CSIR-NBRI, provided an overview of the course. Prof. S. K. Barik, Director, CSIR-NBRI highlighted the importance of this course and briefed about the success stories of previously conducted courses. Prof. Barik also narrated about the role of Tissue culture which is seen as an important technology for developing countries for the production of disease-free, high quality planting material and the rapid production of many uniform plants. He also emphasize on developing employment oriented skill programmes in the core competency areas (like plant tissue culture) of CSIR-NBRI. Prof. Barik also stated that 25 participants were selected from different parts of the country viz., Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh by a National Level Screening and Advisory Committee.
Chief Guest of the Inaugural function was Emeritus Scientist of CIMAP, Lucknow, Dr. A. K. Mathur who highlighted the necessity and importance of this course in the present scenario and emphasized on the popularization of such course to cover large number of unemployed educated youths. He also encouraged participants to participate with full zeal and enthusiasm in 320 hour certificate course and also congratulated CSIR-NBRI for organizing such courses of youth empowerment.

Barik, Director, CSIR-NBRI congratulate Dr. Pankaj Kumar Srivastava, Principal Scientist & Coordinator ENVIS, CSIR-NBRI and whole team of ENVIS-RP-NBRI (Dr. Anju Patel Scientist & Co-coordinator ENVIS, Mr. Sunil Tripathi Programme Officer, Mr. Diwakar Saini Information Officer, Ms. Karishma Srivastava IT-Officer, Mr. Akash Tiwari Data Entry Operator) to conduct these programmes in COVID-19 scenario.
At the end of the programme, Mr. Purshottam gave vote of thanks.
